However, it is important that you learn how to manage your time wisely so that you are not affected when it is time for load shedding,it is of paramount importance that you manage your time wisely ,get to know the schedule for the entire week or month as well as the stages which load shedding is currently in.

Students who do not plan well end up being really affected by load shedding and fail to do their work in expected time. Each and every student has a different strategy to avoid being inconvenienced by load shedding and some call it the "load shedding survival tips".

Asanda Qwabe(22), a second year student in Information Technology at TUT, says that she plans accordingly, "I always check the load shedding timetable online to avoid any inconveniences, for instance if they say there is going to be load shedding at 20:00hrs until midnight, I make sure that i cook on time and work on my assignments before there is any power cut"

"Load shedding really affects us as students, I remember during my first year last year in time for exams there was load shedding almost everyday so I had to prioritize my time during the day, study more and play less and at the end,it paid off" ,says Rethabile Mguni(19) , a second year Analytical Chemistry student at UJ.

Ensure that your cell phone is always fully charged when power is available, and get a power bank as back-up (remember to keep it charged). If you need to get some work done, charge your laptop battery too. Also remember to have temporary lighting such as a torch and candles.
Always have food stuffs and snacks which do not need to be refrigerated or heated before you can eat them.
