 Well known as matric and umalusi to others. Every year the Department of Education sets examinations  for those in matric or Grade12 to say. Matric is the final year in high school before one goes to a higher learning institution. Matric exams come with a lot of pressure and different people handle the pressure differently.

Since the introduction of the CAPS curriculum the class of 2019 has managed to produce the highest pass rate ever. However, things are kind of different now than before, I remember when my cousin completed her matric back then in 2013 they published names in newspapers unlike now which they only have candidate numbers on the newspapers

A second year journalism student Pabalelo Mathabatha(20) says that she was excited and scared at the same time about her results,’ I rarely slept that night, I was waiting to see how I performed, and because of the hard work I put in I passed’ She goes on to advice first year students to take their work seriously as no one will be following them around so that they do their work ‘here no one is going to follow you around about your assignments, they are your own responsibility, learn to balance between social and academic life’.

A 4^th year education student Ayanda Zulu(23) says that she was neither happy nor excited about her matric results as the year had been rough on her, "I was shocked that I had actually made it, I did not expect such results and to the class of 2019 it is never too late to redo you grade, it all starts in the mind, to those coming to University learn to balance your leisure and study time accordingly”

Some people have it the hard way and some the easiest way, remember education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today.

Going to university is taking a step closer to achieving your goals, being there won’t be a walk in the park, you need consistency, discipline and the purpose why you are there. Along the way you’ll face challenges to a point where you want to give up but remember “why you are doing this”
